How to block text messages on iPhone - Receiving text messages you don't want to receive can be frustrating. Whether it's from an old affair, or a spam message from an untrustworthy company, there are ways to prevent it from reaching your phone. Here's how to block text messages and group messages on iPhone, and if you notice someone has blocked your texts.

How To Block text messages from one number on iPhone

1. Open the messaging app. This is an app with a green and white speech bubble icon on your home screen.
2. Then open the conversation with the number you want to block.
3. Tap the contact's name or number at the top.
4. Then touch the "info" button that appears.
5. Next, tap on the arrow to the right of the phone number. It's the small, downward-facing arrow at the top of the screen.
6. Then tap Block this call.
7. Finally, tap Block Contact from the pop-up menu.

If so, you will no longer receive text messages or calls from that number. However, the number will remain in your contact list if you wish to unblock it.

How To Block group text on Iphone

To block group texts on your iPhone, open the Messages app and select the group texts you want to block. Then tap the info button and enable Leave Conversation.

As long as there are other people (at least three) in the group captions, members can leave the group captions whenever they want.

1. Open Messages, then to the group text you want to mute.
2. Tap the title of the group text at the top of the screen. Yes, here
3. Then tap "i" on the drop-down menu.
4. On the Details screen, enable the Leave conversation option.
5. Finally, tap Done.
   

Note: You can only leave a conversation if someone else is creating the conversation, and everyone else in the group chat is using iMessage. If someone isn't using iMessage, this option will be grayed out and you won't be able to leave the group.

You will not receive notifications from this text group but you will still see individual messages from other group members.

If you don't want to leave the conversation, but you don't want to see the message for a certain period of time, you can also hide the alert. To do this, tap the slider next to the Hide Alert Button option. You will then see a crescent icon next to the conversation group.

If you don't want to receive notifications from group chats or any text messages, here's how to turn off group messaging.

• Open the Settings app on your home screen.
• Scroll down the page and press Messages.
• On the Messages screen, scroll down and turn off Group Messages under SMSMMS.
• This will stop all notifications from group chatstext.

Can you tell if someone blocked your text?

While you can still send messages to contacts who have blocked you, they will not be sent to that number. You can still leave voice messages to blocked contacts, but they won't receive notifications about the message. They also have no way of knowing that a voicemail or message they sent has been blocked.
