How to Hide Notification Icons on Android - You might think that the only way to prevent apps from showing notifications in the status bar is to turn them off completely. That is not true. You can "minimize" a notification so that it is only visible by expanding the Android notification shade.

Android offers many tools for customizing notifications. However, most of these methods aim to turn on or off. The "Minimized" notifications aren't completely disabled, but they seem less conspicuous.

First, swipe down from the top of your device screen (once or twice depending on your phone or tablet manufacturer) and tap the gear icon to open the Settings menu.

Then select "Notifications". It can also be called "Apps and Notifications."

You will see a short list of the applications you have recently used. It will look different depending on your device. Select an option to expand the entire list.

With the full list open, find the app for which you want to minimize notifications.

You will then see a list of notification channels. These are all different types of notifications that apps use. Select the channel associated with the type of notification you want to minimize.

Now, select the "Mute" option at the top.

Once you switch to Silent, the "Minimize" option will appear. Turn on.

This is a little trick for annoying apps that can distract you with notifications but not essential enough to completely block your life.
