How to disable comments on Instagram - Instagram comments can be a blessing or a curse. If all doesn't go well, you can disable comments completely, hide the current comment, and prevent new comments. Here's how to disable comments on Instagram.

How To Turn off comments for direct Instagram posts

Unfortunately, there is no general feature to disable comments on all your Instagram posts at once. The closest option you have is to make your profile private.

But Instagram allows you to disable comments per post. To do this, open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android smartphone and find the post (of course it's one of your posts) where you want to disable comments.

In the top-right corner of the post, tap the three-dot menu button.
In the menu that appears, select the "Disable comments" option.
The comments section will disappear instantly. No one will be able to access your previous comments and your followers will lose the possibility to leave new ones.

You can reverse this option at any time. Tap the three-dot menu button on the post and select the "Enable Comments" option to restore all comments.

If you want to hide comments for a specific profile, try the Restrict feature. This will stop public comments, but you can still view them (if you wish).

How to disable comments before posting on Instagram

Sometimes, you already know that you don't want to read comments on a post you're about to make. In this case, Instagram will allow you to disable comments right before the post goes live.

Once you've selected the media you want to share in your post, you'll arrive at the "New Post" screen, where you can type in a title and tag users. Select the "Advanced Settings" option at the bottom of the screen.

Enable the "Disable comments" option and press the Back button.
Then when you're ready to post, tap the "Share" button to share the post with comments turned off.

If you later change your mind, you can reactivate comments at any time. Tap the menu button in the top right corner of the Instagram post and select the "Enable Comments" option.
